“We use Holne Park House and the River Dart Country Park in the winter time for running our white water kayak and canoe programmes and the great facilities mean there mean we can run a wide range of courses to suit all abilities.”
Darren Joy, Fluid Skills
“We could have sat by the fire all day! We all enjoyed it so much that we are planning another day for the students – or maybe just staff again! Thank you so much! I even did the Zip Wire which I never thought I’d do”
Karen Allen, Plymouth Hospital & Outreach School
“We first approached RDCP in March 2008 in an attempt to secure a suitable venue for water rescue training, a core requirement of DSFRS, the challenge was to locate a venue that offered access to fast flowing clean water but must also have lecture room facilities, drying rooms, changing rooms, shower and catering facilities. All these requirements have been met and our individual needs catered for in a friendly and professional manner.
In short the staff at the River Dart Country Park make our job much less stressful and they continue to meet the high demands placed on them by ourselves with a smiling face.”
Eddie Holden, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service
“We had a great time and with the support we were shown we would definitely be considering doing the event again. The event was great and all the staff treated us brilliantly and with much patience. Best wishes and thanks to everybody!”
Tim Lambert, Pyranha
“A real pleasure to deal with. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The House is ideally placed within the Park with great access to the training venue. We recommend the River dart Country Park and Holne Park House to anyone. Thank you.”
Chris Heath, Rescue 3 (UK)
“I would like to thank you and your colleagues for looking after us whilst on a physically demanding Water Rescue Course.
The reception we received was first rate from day one and this was carried on throughout our stay.
We all felt that nothing was too much trouble and our needs were well catered for. The food and service was of a high standard and my colleagues could not believe the quality and quantity of food on offer.
We all enjoyed the facilities and again the people made us all feel very welcome.”
Amanda Swift, RSPCA
“Everyone said it’s the best course they have done in the fire service.”
Rich Helleur Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service
“As a service swiftwater rescue instructor, I have been using the River Dart Country Park as the main venue for running courses for the last year as this offers a broad range of natural water conditions.
These include varying levels, natural and man made hydraulic features and geographical layout that expose students to realistic conditions that they may have to search or operate including: static water, moderate to high flow conditions.
The Park provides a comfortable relaxed setting away from distractions for students to be able to focus on learning the skills required to operate as rescue technicians, this is assisted by the excellent lecture facilities provided in the house and supported by extremely helpful staff always willing to facilitate the needs of the course.”
Ben Weedon, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service
“The whole day was fantastic!”
